The Current Civil War
And why neither side is on YOUR side
The ruling class is at war and we’re watching it unfold. As local police clash with ICE and national guard, we see the autocrats push for the final killing blow against bourgeois (capitalist) democracy, and a push toward their final autocratic state. We also see those, like the democrats, who are afraid of losing their status and capital, wield their resources against the new blossoming leadership and ruling class in a, quite disappointing, bid for survival. And all the while we are stuck in the middle, not just watching, but forced to participate to try and survive. They use state infrastructure as weapons and bargaining chips for their perverted game of power-grab, but our lives are not a game! Our grandparents getting lifesaving medications is not a pawn for a rich man to use against a rich woman in an attempt to persuade one another to give in to the ridiculous demands of tax-breaks, rolled back corporate regulations, etc. One side is openly oppressive and fascistic, while the other is just the same but does so with “progressive” messaging and “leaders”.
Nonetheless, neither side is on the side of the working class. Both want to enrich themselves on our labor, our strife, and ultimately our death. The “new” seems much scarier but it’s because we’ve been conditioned to accept the status quo. We’ve been told the “norm” is inevitable and unavoidable. It’s unchangeable. Yet we see it being stripped and rebuilt in the image of techno-imperial fascists. Do not fall back into the trap of American Duopoly, it is a monopolistic system. It is a dictatorship of the rich capitalists, and we are its slaves.
They tell us nothing can be changed in our favor, and that socialism would be hell on earth and is utopian to even attempt. Yet they dismantled every system, every program, every subsidy in their sights to enrich themselves. So, I ask you, how do you suppose they are able to ransack our nation if “nothing can be changed”? How is it that when the change benefits them, the ruling capitalists, it is instant. Whether it’s legal or not, they do it with impunity. But when we ask for bread, work, and safety we’re labeled extremists and ridiculed.
So, what do we do? Organize? Yes. But what exactly does that mean right now? It means building intercommunal strength. We first approach and aid in our community’s needs: food, education (both political and foundation), healthcare, self-sustainment, and defense. Then we aid in building that communal strength with a community across town, across the state, nationally, and ultimately build international solidarity and relationships.
This sounds like a task of grandeur, but it’s surely doable. The Panthers did it, and so must we. Our task starts local, not global. But it must always remain rooted in global proletarian liberation, or we risk nationalism.
Take the step NOW! Join your local socialist organization. Stock up on affordable food options that can feed more thank your household (bulk dry beans, rice, etc. are cheap and effective). The time of speculative action and "preparing” is over. It is time to do. So do.
Agitate. Educate. Organize.
